Fine drops of sparkling wine and wine on Mauergasse

by time news

Dhat actually almost spoiled our mood at the end. It’s only 9:36 p.m. – and the first thing the man in the “Laquai” grumbles at us is: “We close at 10 p.m.!” Ok, but that leaves us almost half an hour for a last glass. He tells us twice more about his closing time with a serious look, then he lets us pass. A strange reception, especially since he then puts a bottle and four glasses on the table and let us, like the other guests, do it until 10:19 p.m. In the end, we walk out onto Mauergasse, halfway relaxed, but are still a little surprised by this understanding of hospitality.

With its shops, bars and car-free strolling atmosphere, Mauergasse has long been a gem in downtown Wiesbaden. Recently it has blossomed into a real gastronomic mile, the small Fressgass’ of the state capital. A popular cheese shop and a wine shop have closed, but instead several bars have opened up, so that an Italian coffee and aperitif bar, a paninoteca, a Vietnamese, a beer pub and, above all, four wine and champagne bars are lined up along the alley . Reason enough to make a direct comparison with a small train through the community and to visit all four wine bars in one evening.
