Mumbai: Trading in Indian bourses ended the weekend lower on Friday. The Sensex was down 461 points (0.75 per cent) at 61,337. Meanwhile, Nifty fell by 145 points (0.79 per cent) to 18,269 in the national stock market.
Friday’s trade started with a dip. As of 09:53 am, the Sensex was down 117.56 points at 61,681.47. The NSE Nifty was down 18.05 points at 18,396.85.
Indian bourses closed the weekend trading lower on bearish market sentiment due to interest rate hikes by global central banks.
By the end of today’s trading hours, the Sensex was down 461.22 points at 61,337.81. At the same time, Nifty fell by 145.90 points to close at 18269.00.
In terms of individual stocks, HDFC Bank, Hindustan Unilever, Nestlé India and Tata Steels were the gainers. L&T, Tech Mahindra, HDFC, Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, Sunpharma Industries, IndusInt Bank, Bajaj Finserv, ITC, Infosys, Maruti Suzuki, HCL Technologies. Shares including Ultra Tech Cement fell.
