Product recall: blocks of Freyel foie gras concerned

by time news

At a time when everyone is thinking about their holiday menu, and when some are starting their shopping for the big day, it is worth checking which brand of foie gras you have chosen. The block of duck liver with pieces of the Feyel brand, packaged in 200 g packaging, is the subject of a product recall issued by the authorities on the Rappel Conso site, which depends on the Ministries of Agriculture and Economy.

These are very specifically blocks whose consumption period runs until February 28, 2024, which have been distributed throughout France, by the Leclerc, Intermarché, Système U, Coran, Auchan and Casino, Carrefour, Spart and Transgourmet. According to the press release from Rappel Conso, foie gras has an “organoleptic alteration”, that is to say that it smells bad. The leaflet provides that customers who return the product to the store where they purchased it will obtain a refund.

In addition, since this Friday morning, sachets of grated Emmental cheese from the Biocoop brand and skinless cooked ham from the Métro chef brand have also been recalled, samples of which revealed the presence of listeria monocytogenesis, a bacterium that can cause fevers, nausea, and have serious consequences for the elderly, immunocompromised people and pregnant women. Two spice blends – the Tex-mex from Epicea in a plastic jar, and the strong massalé from the Grande Épicerie de Paris – must be returned to stores because they contain pyrrolizidine alkaloids in larger quantities than authorized by the legislation.
