For the Spanish film Utama. Audience Award went to Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Nankaal Early Sleep, and Net Pack Award to Mahesh Narayanan’s Notice. Bela Thar won the Lifetime Achievement Award. Minister VN Vasavan handed over the overall contribution award to Hungarian director Bela Thar. The Malayalam film Nanpakal Neerath Mayakam was the film that won the audience’s favor at the festival. The Netpack Award for the best Malayalam film was won by Mahesh Narayanan’s directorial announcement. The Arabic film Aalam won the Rajatchakoram for Best Debut Director and the Netpac Award for Best Asian Film. The Malayalam film 19 (1) (A) directed by VS Indu won the FIPRESI Award for Best Debut Director. Amar Colony director Siddharth Chauhan has been awarded the KR Mohanan Award for Best Debut Director in India. Among the films in the competition category, Manisha Soni and Muskaan, the heroine of A Place for Our Own, deserve a special mention.
Minister VN Vasavan announced at the function that Ranjith will make M Mukundan’s novel on the banks of Mayyazhi Puzha into a movie. Ranjith, chairman of Chalachitra Academy, who came to the introductory speech, was welcomed with cheers. Ranjith countered the protests of the delegates who could not watch Nankakal Nereth Mayakkum with sarcasm.
