Former Pakistan captain and batsman Azhar Ali has announced his retirement from Test matches with the Test series against England.
Azhar Al is the highest run-scorer in Tests after Pakistan players Javid Miandad, Mohammad Yousuf, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Younus Khan. Azhar Ali has scored 7097 runs in 96 innings at an average of 42.49.
Announcing his retirement, Azhar Ali said-
I consider it a great honor to play international matches for the country. Announcing his retirement from the Test match was a bit of a tough decision. But I think this is the right time for me to take a break.

I feel blessed to have played alongside some of Pakistan’s greatest players. I have also trained under legendary trainers.
Not all cricketers get a chance to become captain. But I have captained the Pakistan team a few times. It is my honor.

Azhar Ali, 37, made his debut in 2010 against Australia at Lord’s. Azhar Ali has scored 34 fifties and 19 centuries in Test format.
The 3rd and final Test between England and Pakistan starts tomorrow. Azhar Ali retires from Test matches with this match. Azhar Ali is expected to be the opener in tomorrow’s match.
