Ramanathapuram: In Ramanathapuram district, the fishermen released the dolphin caught in the net back into the sea.

Dolphins and sea cows live in the Gulf of Mannar sea areas such as Valinokkam, Keezhakarai, Mandapam and Rameswaram. These should be protected.

The Gulf of Mannar Biosphere Reserve Trust has announced that a reward will be given to those who rescue those caught in the net.

A 4-year-old male dolphin weighing 300 kg was caught in Valinokkam Sheela fishing area yesterday while pulling the net. As per the orders of Lower Coastal Warden Senthilkumar, the forest staff along with the fishermen released the dolphin back into the sea.
