London: two teenagers miraculously survived carousel accident

by time news

It is one of the favorite places for tourists a few days before Christmas. The “Winter Wonderland”, a giant funfair held at the end of each year in Hyde Park, in the heart of London (United Kingdom), almost experienced a tragedy on Wednesday evening. In question: a merry-go-round accident, reports the Guardian.

Two teenagers probably had the scare of their lives, when they had just settled into a metallic sphere. On the videos, which circulate on social networks, we can indeed see that one of the two rubber bands of the carousel came off at the time of takeoff, projecting the “ball” and the two young men against one of the mats . The cries emitted at first then gave way to the silence and amazement of the visitors present near the carousel, visibly very worried by what they had just seen.

The attraction temporarily closed

The emergency services and the police quickly intervened on the scene. The two boys left the scene after being checked by doctors, indicates the Guardian, which specifies that the incident was reported to the “Health and Safety Executive”, responsible for investigating these accidents. The accident was attributed to a “technical problem with the inverted elastic”, explained a spokesperson for the event.

An investigation has been opened. The attraction remains closed for the time being, and, at least, the time of the investigations. “All of our rides are subject to rigorous and regular safety checks by experienced members of staff trained in health and safety,” a spokesperson for the event told the Evening Standard daily. We also offer regular training to all staff to ensure our visitors have a fun and safe experience.” London’s biggest funfair is set to last until January 2.
