SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ continues to set records at the box office. After receiving worldwide fanfare, it had a grand opening in Japan in October. Meanwhile, within two months the film has now become one of the highest grossing Indian films in Japan. The Ram Charan and Jr NTR starrer has dethroned Rajinikanth starrer ‘Muthu’ which was the top box office in Japan for 24 years.
The film earned approximately JPY 403 million (Rs 24 crore) at the Japanese box office, setting a new record. Rajinikanth’s 1995 film Muthu is the highest-grossing Indian film of all time in Japan, grossing JPY 400 million (approx. 23.5 crores).
The Ram Charan and Jr. NTR starrer RRR has been creating a record of immense love from the international audience. And SS Rajamouli’s RRR has recently become the first Telugu film to be nominated for a Golden Globe Award.
The film received nominations in two categories: Best Non-English Language Film and Best Song for ‘Nattu Nathu.’ Not only this, the film also won five awards at the Critics’ Choice Awards.

At the CCA, ‘RRR’ has bagged awards in the following categories: ‘Best Film,’ ‘Best Director’, ‘Best Visual Effects’ and ‘Best Foreign Language Film and Best Song’ for ‘Native’ song.
‘RRR’ is a fictional story about two tribal leaders and their struggle against British colonial rule. The film also stars Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn and Sriya Charan.
