Jaffna – About 130 people who were in a boat that drifted off the coast of Kataikadu, Maruthangeni have been rescued by the navy and taken to the Kangesanturai naval base.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that they are from Myanmar.
The Sri Lanka Navy was informed about this by the local marine workers while the said boat was washed ashore 5 nautical miles from the Kataikattu beach.

After this, 4 naval ships were dispatched to rescue the people from the said boat.
The Sri Lanka Navy said that many children were found on the said boat and no information regarding their nationality was found.
