A 12-year-old boy was shot dead recently (Friday) while eating in a car parked in Brooklyn with two family members, New York State Police (NYPD) officials said.

New York City Deputy Chief of Staff Michael Kemper said the boy was shot several times and his death was determined at the scene. “The boy was sitting in the car with two other members of his family. The three stopped to eat and then a number of shots were fired at them, “Kemper noted, clarifying that police investigators do not yet have information about the motive for the shooting and whether the car was indeed the target.

A 20-year-old woman sitting in the driver’s seat was also injured in the shooting and was evacuated to the local hospital in critical condition, where she is expected to undergo surgery. An 8-year-old girl sitting in the back seat was not injured.

Camper, with New York City Mayor Eric Adams by his side, spoke to reporters at the shooting scene in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Adams, a former New York police chief, stressed the importance of collecting weapons from the streets. We’re going to catch this shooter – but as long as we have guns and a revolving door system, we’ll continue to get to such crime scenes. It is time for it to stop. ” Said Adams.
