A 12-year-old Irish resident was killed when the car he was driving collided head-on with a truck around 2am early last Friday. He drove alone more than 30 miles before the collision.

The boy Victor Chujecki, from Newcastle in Ireland, was killed after taking the family car in the middle of the night and going on a trip with him. School principal Sean Lane, said the boy was popular with students and teachers. “We are all very shocked and upset to hear about the tragedy, and it is very difficult for our students to describe in words how they feel, there is great sadness and shock among the whole school community,” he told local media.

According to reports in Ireland, the boy took the Nissan-type vehicle, for a trip without the knowledge of his family that is described as completely normative by two parents who work hard for a living. His mother, Eva, and his father, Bartosz, emigrated from their native Poland to Ireland.

The boy’s body was evacuated to Limerick University Hospital for a post-mortem. Emergency crews used cutting tools to free the boy’s body from the car and his death was determined on the spot.

The truck driver, a man in his 40s, was unharmed and treated after going into shock. The boy was the only passenger in the car. The parents were given a few minutes to be alone with their son’s body to say goodbye to him, on leaving the funeral home, the boy’s mother thanked all the emergency crews for their service.
