Murugan hails from Papakkudi Perumal Kovil Street near Mukkudal in Nellai district. His wife is Uchchimakali. They have a son, Selvasurya, and a daughter, Pavithra. Selvasurya was studying in the 12th class of Computer Science at the Government High School in Pallakkal Pothukudi next to the mid-afternoon. Pavithra is studying 10th class in the same school.
In this situation, on the 25th, there was an argument between Selvasurya and an 11th class student of the same school from another community in Adaichani regarding the tying of caste rope in his hand. At that time there was a factional clash between two students in support of Selva Surya and 2 students from Pallakkal public area studying in the same class in support of Plus 1 student.
It is learned that the 11th class students attacked Selvasurya with a stone. He had an ear injury and was bleeding. Seeing this, the school teachers have reached a compromise among the students. The Papakkudy police were informed about the incident and rushed to the spot to investigate and reconcile the two parties.
Selvasurya, who came home after this, had a headache at night. His parents admitted him to Ambasamudram Government Hospital for treatment and the doctors there sent the student to Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
Selvasurya succumbed to his injuries this morning after being admitted to a government hospital where he was given intensive treatment.
Papagudi police have registered a case and are investigating. Following the incident in which a student was killed, police led by DSPs Ambai Francis and Alangulam Ponnarasu have been deployed in the Pappakudi and Pallakkal public areas.
The public in the area said there was a lack of discipline among school children and that the clash and death would not have occurred if it had been constantly monitored by teachers and police.

They also claim that the student could have prevented the loss of life if he had been admitted to the hospital immediately after the injury. Police have arrested four students involved in the incident and are investigating.
Meanwhile it seems likely that the problem in getting the student’s body will continue as the deceased student and the assaulted student belong to a different community.
Due to this, the police have intensified surveillance in the Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital premises and in the Pudukudi area of Pallakkal.
The primary education officer has ordered a holiday for the Pudukudi government high school in Pallakkal today as the incident in which a student died has caused great grief. Also, a case has been registered against 5 students in 5 categories including murder (302) of eleventh class students and police are arresting 3 students involved.
