A 13-year-old boy from Sofia, who was riding a cross-country motorcycle without registration plates on “Dimitar Filipov” street in Chiprovtsi and another 16-year-old boy from Sofia was riding with him, was seriously injured in a transport accident, reports the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Montana .
The accident happened at an unregulated intersection in Chiprovtsi, where the underage driver did not miss the Volkswagen Golf car coming from the right, driven by a 76-year-old man from Chiprovtsi. The underage driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital in Montana, where he was treated emergency operation. He is currently in the intensive care unit of the hospital. The driver of the car was tested for alcohol, the police directorate in Montana said.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case.
The accident happened during the Chiprovtsi holiday, for which traditionally many people with roots from the mountain town, living in different places in Bulgaria and abroad, arrive.
It is currently being clarified how the motorcycle got into the 13-year-old boy, the police added.
