A 15-year-old boy, who attends a boarding school for special education, was attacked last night (Friday) by a group of boys at the entrance to a public kindergarten in Petah Tikva for no apparent reason. Three suspects – two boys and a 19-year-old man – were detained for questioning following the attack.

The boy’s father said: “He says that he heard music from the phone and then the boys started laughing at him, telling him to ‘come here’ and he didn’t want to come to them,” said the boy’s father, “When he saw that they were approaching, he started to run away and they grabbed him, knocked him down on the asphalt and kicked him all over his body, beat him mercilessly. He cried his heart out for them and they continued to beat him, laughed at him and took pictures of him.”

The police said: “Investigators of the Petah Tikva Police Station opened an investigation tonight upon receiving a complaint regarding an attack on a boy in a public garden in Petah Tikva which allegedly happened a short time before. As a result of the attack, the boy needed medical treatment at the Belinson Medical Center in Petah Tikva.

Quick investigative actions carried out by the police led shortly afterwards to the arrest of a suspect in the assault, a 15-year-old minor resident of the city. At the end of the investigation, the suspect was sent to house arrest. As the investigation developed, the police detained two more suspects for questioning – a boy and another 19-year-old suspect. At the end of the investigation and according to the evidence, it will be decided whether to ask for an extension of their detention this evening.”
