A 34% jump in vehicle dedication in 2021. And how many Teslas were sold?

by time news

The year 2021 ended with about 289,000 dedications, an increase of about 34% compared to 2020. This is according to preliminary data in the automotive industry. This is the strongest year of dedication ever in the Israeli car market and it surpassed the previous record set in 2016 by about 3,000 dedications.

However, in practice the figure is more impressive because in 2021 about 10,600 vehicles were delivered in indirect imports, which does not appear in the official summaries of the Ministry of Transport. Of these, about 7,100 vehicles were delivered in parallel imports, in about 3480 vehicles in “tiny” imports, in which importers are limited to about 20 vehicles per year. Together with the dedication to taxis, the total dedication of private vehicles reached about 302,000 vehicles.

In line with expectations, December was a particularly weak dedication month with only about 6,000 dedications due to the waiting of many customers for the new registration of “2022 Immigrant Year”. The only exception was Tesla, which actually “forced” customers who ordered vehicles from the current shipment to pick them up in December or cancel their order and wait again for the next delivery cycle in March or later. As a result, Tesla delivered about 1,000 cars in December and captured an unprecedented share of 16% of all deliveries that month. Tesla’s total dedication in 2021 was 6,298 vehicles.
