A 40-year-old female cyclist was hit this morning (Saturday) by a vehicle on Highway 4 to the south near the Silver intersection. MDA medics and paramedics gave her medical treatment and evacuated her to Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon in serious condition with multi-system damage.

MDA paramedic Avital Kabsha said: “The injured woman was lying on the road unconscious and suffering from a multi-system injury. We gave her initial medical treatment that included immobilization, stopping bleeding and drug treatment and evacuated her for further treatment in the hospital when her condition was serious.”

From a preliminary police investigation, it was suspected that this was a hit-and-run accident, and through extensive searches conducted by the police, they were able to locate the vehicle suspected of being involved in the accident, as it was abandoned near the settlements in the south.

At the same time, in quick investigative actions by the police, they were able to trace the escape route of the suspect, a resident of the diaspora in the south in the 1920s, and he was arrested for questioning near the Shukat junction.
