A registered letter will arrive to 465 recipients in the coming weeks, probably by the end of August. It will inform them that the family will be able to use a 500 euro voucher to buy groceries, local public transport passes and fuel.
The “Dedicata a Te” card is the social card created by the Meloni government to support the neediest families.

Also for 2024, the State has allocated dedicated funds to support the families most in difficulty by replicating the initiative of the solidarity card “Dedicated to You”, introduced last year with a bonus of 382.50 euros for the purchase of basic foodstuffs. This year the amount will be 500 euros. The initiative will be launched in September. The details regarding the method and timing of assignment of the card to the eligible families from Merano – 465 in total (last year there were 449) – were illustrated yesterday by the councilor for social services Stefan Frötscher and the director of the Social Services Office Alice Bertoli. The share of beneficiaries is predetermined by the State for each Municipality on the basis of a calculation that takes into account various parameters, from the number of residents to the delta between the average local income compared to the national one. The work of the various institutional actors determines the rankings, excluding, among others, those who already receive benefits such as citizen’s income, unemployment or a provincial contribution for rent.
The card is distributed by post offices to families with at least three members, whose ISEE (Indicator of Equivalent Economic Situation) does not exceed 15,000 euros. These families
have already been selected in their respective municipalities of residence based on lists provided by INPS. The cards, as mentioned, are distributed in predetermined numbers, proportionally to the population resident in each municipality, giving priority to those families in which there are minors born before 31 December 2010. The general conditions of the family have also been assessed, so especially those who are in greater difficulty and who do not benefit from other subsidies will be helped. To make the aid as fair as possible, INPS, the Municipality (and in particular the demographic services), other territorial bodies that provide subsidies, and the Post Office come into play through a series of steps and screenings for the final act of disbursing the money. “The procedure – explains Stefan Frötscher, municipal councilor for social affairs – requires a considerable effort by the various offices, including ours. It is important to specify that those who do not receive the letter are not beneficiaries of the subsidy”. Yet there is also a quota (a few dozen families, last year) that last year did not “accept” the registered letter. “But the available money is distributed anyway – explains Bertoli because those families initially excluded from the 465 names are “fished out” from the rankings that are drawn up”.
The 500 euro top-up will be made on the same card already owned by those who benefited from the bonus in 2023 and are also entitled to it in 2024. Those who have lost or thrown away their old card will need to request a new one by following the lost card procedure at the Post Office. Those who did not benefit from the measure in 2023 but will be beneficiaries in 2024 will receive a notice to go and collect the already topped-up card at the Post Office. The first mandatory use must be made by 16 December 2024. If the payment is not made by that date, the benefit will expire. Furthermore, the 500 euros must be spent by 28 February 2025.
Assignment method.
To obtain the 2024 social card or to receive the new 500 euro top-up on the old card, it is therefore not necessary to submit any application. The procedure is automatic and is managed by the INPS and the Municipality. Before going to the Post Office, beneficiary families must wait for the registered letter that the Municipality will send them by the end of August. The letter contains the card identification code and instructions on how to collect and use the card.
