Fears are growing in Ukraine about impending new massive attacks by Russian troops on Kyiv and other cities in the country. Satellite images taken on Monday, February 28, recorded a 60-kilometer convoy of Russian military equipment northwest of Kyiv. The convoy stretches from the approaches to the Gostomel airfield in the south (25 km from the center of Kyiv) to the outskirts of the village of Pribirsk in the north, the American satellite company Maxar reported.

The pictures show dozens of vehicles. Some of them are at a very large distance from each other, others are in groups of two or three cars. Separate images show smoke from allegedly burning buildings in the area. Maxar also released photos showing helicopters and vehicles moving in Belarus, less than 30km from the border with Ukraine.

Since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, Ukrainian forces have reported repelling a number of Russian attacks on Kyiv. Major battles were fought for the Gostomel airfield. Ukrainian resistance has slowed down the advance of Russian troops, but Russia is moving more and more reinforcements to major Ukrainian cities and intensifying shelling. Experts expect a new massive Russian offensive in the near future.
