Five fire crews under the command of the shift commander, Rabbi Reshef Yehuda Malul, were called last night (Saturday) to a fire that broke out in an apartment in a residential building on Shoshanim Street in Nof Hagalil.
When firefighters arrived at the building, they noticed that it was a fire in a third-floor apartment in a four-story building.
They immediately began breaking into the apartment and locating another trapped person. During the scan, a captured 66-year-old was rescued and was transferred for further treatment by medical officials.
MDA medics and paramedics provided him with medical treatment and evacuated him to Rambam Hospital in Haifa in a critical condition, anesthetized and respirated, with about 30% burns, and after inhaling smoke.
MDA paramedic Assaf Chen said: “When we arrived at the scene we saw smoke coming out of the apartment on the third floor, immediately after the apartment door was broken into, a man in his sixties was rescued from unconsciousness, with burns on his upper body and inhaled smoke. We lowered him to a safe place and immediately provided him with life-saving medical treatment that included anesthesia and resuscitation and evacuated him to the hospital when his condition was serious. “
Firefighters continued to evacuate the building’s occupants and put out the fire.
A fire investigator from the fire and rescue services began investigating the circumstances of the fire.
The fire services repeatedly emphasize that it is recommended to install a low-cost smoke detector in the house and with a simple installation, which will warn of the fire at the beginning and allow a quick escape.
