A 75-year-old man was injured this morning (Tuesday) by stabbing a knife on Exodus Boulevard in Kiryat Gat, and the suspect escaped. At the end of a manhunt, a 28-year-old city resident was arrested. The background is in fact criminal.

The wounded man was taken to Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon and is in a light condition. Large police forces were deployed throughout Kiryat Gat with the assistance of the police air unit, and conducted extensive searches.

Superintendent Shashi Batzon, deputy commander of the Kiryat Gat station, updated: “This morning we received a report of a stabbing incident. We arrived at the scene and saw a 75-year-old man slightly injured, apparently from a sharp object. We immediately opened wide-ranging scans.”

Last week, an 18-year-old Palestinian who was in Israel without a permit approached a couple walking on Bat Yam Street in the city. Stabbed the man (67) and wounded him moderately. He fled the scene on foot. Troops launched searches that also included helicopters, and the suspect was arrested about an hour later while in a building near the stabbing scene. The main suspicion is that this is an attack.
