“The passing of the years has never been a problem for me because for my career I have never focused on beauty but on talent”. This is how Simona Ventura tells herself at time.news and talks about her experience as a competitor on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ together with her partner Giovanni Terzi, defining it as ”a real school of life”. Ventura says she is satisfied with her career and at the moment does not feel the need to host her own program: “I’m not bulimic! For now I want to get to December 23rd (date of the last episode of the Rai1 program hosted by Milly Carlucci, ed.) and save my skin – he jokes – then we’ll see. I am a guest of Fabio Fazio and on Sundays I have ‘Citofonare Rai 2’ until June. I’m divinely well, I’m not bulimic, I’ve done 75 programs and even if I don’t host alone nothing happens”.

Of her participation in Carlucci’s program, she says: ”As a child I studied dance and rhythmic gymnastics for many years but I didn’t think I had such an important muscle memory. Taking part in ‘Dancing with the Stars’ is a wonderful experience, you dance as a young girl and you think you have forgotten everything but instead you find yourself at the dawn of 60 years old exactly as you were then. I was also lucky to catch a crazy teacher like Samuel Peron, for whom this will be the last year in the program and therefore he wants to do very well, he is truly a great professional”.

In the Rai1 program there is a lot of competition: ”We all feel it – he underlines – we all want to get to the final and we want to win and I find this very healthy. I admit that I want to win, unlike those who say they just want to participate in the program. ‘Dancing’ is also a school of life, you enter one way and exit another, here all the masks fall away and you see who you really are. This week – the presenter anticipates – I will dance to the notes of a song that I consider to be my anthem, ‘Combattente’ by Fiorella Mannoia. I sewed it on myself like a dress. I have always been a fighter, even in the darkest periods of my life, even when my son Nicolò (Bettarini, ed.) was stabbed outside a nightclub, but I was very lucky and I based my happiness on this luck”.

As for the ‘Ballando’ jury, criticized by many of the programme’s competitors, Simona takes the stand in favor of Selvaggia Lucarelli: “She’s not as bad as people make her out to be, she says some very true things to me”. And on Guillermo Mariotto: ”It’s very precious, the jury must also put on a show otherwise the program would be boring.” Even though he said that Terzi’s presence in the competition is harmful? ”He said something stupid – he replies smiling – Giovanni is the my strength, in these years it has guided me out of danger, for me it has been very precious”. On the date of her wedding with Giovanni Terzi, Ventura still does not say too much: “For good luck we don’t want to say it, we have set it – she admits – we will definitely get married next year but we will only say the exact date close to the wedding”.

As for her separation from Stefano Bettarini: ”It was painful because it was public – she says – the separation in itself is already painful because it is the failure of a life project, then if it also becomes a public fact it is even more difficult to overcome. In life you can’t always be ‘up’, certainly the ‘Super Simo’ of the 90s was more carefree and had fewer responsibilities then in life many things happen but you always get up again”.

Why did you decide to participate in ‘Dancing with the Stars’? ”When I did ‘The Masked Singer’, where Peron was also there but I didn’t know it because he was the Venetian Knight and I was the Star, I remember that behind the scenes Milly said: ‘Don’t you think it’s time that you do ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and I replied: ‘In my opinion yes but let’s find an original idea’. And the original idea was to also call Giovanni. We are the first couple to participate together in ‘Ballando’ so we are guinea pigs from a certain point of view. Last year Selvaggia also went to ‘Ballando’ with her partner Lorenzo (Biagiarelli, ed.) but she was on the jury and he was a competitor so she experienced this very badly unlike me and Giovanni who instead are living an experience Extremely beautiful”.

Returning to her relationship with her advancing age, Ventura continues: “It’s useless to hide your age, it makes no sense, I’ve lived all my ages to the fullest, so having lived all the experiences you have at that age I have no regrets or remorse. I took part in Miss Italy and Miss Universe – remember – all things that I experienced intensely with a curiosity that has never abandoned me. I’m not interested in being a beautiful thirty-year-old, I don’t care about less, it’s enough for me to be in shape, when they tell me I look like a 50 year old I’m already happy. The smile and beauty have certainly been a business card that has opened many doors for me but beauty is a fleeting thing, after which you have to demonstrate be capable and talented.”

“There was a time when we presenters even worked for free to build our CVs. How many would do it today? I also always tell my children that, regardless of the opportunities we give them, they have to work hard like we did. I started to working on television in 1987 on Rai1 – recalls Ventura – Magalli took me on ‘Domani Sposi’, he was very kind to me and also very serious for which I will always thank him, he is one of those people who has always helped me. I did many good things at Mediaset, from ‘Le Iene’ to ‘Mai dire gol’ where I had to stay for eleven episodes and instead I stayed for three years and even there I chose the most difficult path. I like to get involved and I have I’ve always loved the challenge. I have no regrets, I really did everything I could have wanted”, concludes the presenter”.
