The daughter of the former president denounced on Monday before the Mossos d’Esquadra an alleged homicide attempt

The Barcelona guard court has ordered an autopsy to be carried out on former Angolan president Eduardo dos Santos, who died on Friday at the Teknon clinic. Meanwhile, the law firms that represent his daughter, Tchizé dos Santos, assured that they see “a host of indications that the death was favored” allegedly by her ex-wife, her personal doctor and people close to the Government Angolan.

The daughter of the former president denounced an alleged homicide attempt to the Mossos d’Esquadra on Monday and on Friday asked not to hand over her father’s body until the autopsy was done for “fear” that he would be transferred to Angola. She also explained that Dos Santos wanted to be buried in Spain and refused a state funeral in Angola, where his family “has been suffering strong political persecution led ideologically by the new government and President Lourenço.” For this reason, she criticized that “the Angolan minister Téte António has traveled to Barcelona to ensure that the body of Dos Santos be transferred to Angola after his death” despite the wishes of the former president and his children.

From the firm they explained that Dos Santos and his ex-wife separated in 2017, after he left the Presidency and later moved to Barcelona, although “he had not had a relationship for years.” In recent years she has made public appearances as the first lady of Lourenço. Last April, the woman visited Dos Santos and settled in her residence. Since then, she continued the legal team, “isolated” the former president from her children and restricted the muscular and respiratory physiotherapy treatment she received, canceling visits with her Spanish medical team.

The lawyers pointed out that “since he arrived in Barcelona and settled in Dos Santos’s house, his health seriously worsened, so that his physical abilities were increasingly affected” until he ended up admitted to an intensive care unit of the Teknon Clinic. In their opinion, her relationship with the current president of the South African country is “uncontroversial” and, according to them, in Angolan political circles the presence of the ex-wife is interpreted as a way of limiting the possible political and media damage to Lourenço due to death of Dos Santos during the electoral period.
