A 76-meter-long battleship capsized early Monday morning in Thailand and took more than a hundred crew members, most of whom were found by the forces.

In Thailand they say that the incident happened a few hours ago and now the various teams are searching for the site of 33 sailors and crew members who are missing in the sea water and say that they hope to find them alive.

Three sailors who were rescued earlier were evacuated to the hospital in a critical and unstable condition, alongside the continued search for dozens of crew members.

According to the initial investigation, it appears that strong winds increased the waves and allowed a lot of sea water to enter the ship through the exhaust pipe.

The water ingress also created a short circuit, making it impossible for the ship’s crew to operate pumps to remove the water that had entered or attempt to maneuver the ship.

The ship was manufactured 40 years ago in the United States and was sent to the Thai army. Military experts told CNN that the chances of such an old ship surviving such a stormy situation were initially slim.
