On July 22, a briefing was held in connection with the state of implementation of the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated July 24, 2023 “On the allocation of funds for the expansion of the radio broadcasting network in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan”.

The purpose of the Order is to ensure the broadcasting of national radio channels throughout the country by carrying out work to improve the radio broadcasting network, providing state support primarily to private broadcasters in this area, as well as creating the possibility of receiving radio signals on the same radio frequency in certain territories using new technologies and, as a result, increasing public access to local radio programs.

The briefing was attended by Elmir Velizade, Head of the Sector of the Department for Work with Non-Governmental Organizations and Communications of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Samir Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Fazil Novruzov, Head of the Office of the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, heads and representatives of the Radio Television Broadcasting and Satellite Communications Production Association (Teleradio PO) and the State Radio Frequency Administration under the MCRT, as well as media entities.

During the speeches on the implementation of the Order, it was stated that the above-mentioned Order is a great contribution to the development of media in general and is an example of serious support provided by the state to FM radio broadcasters. From this point of view, it was emphasized that holding a briefing on National Press Day is not a coincidence.

It was noted that in order to modernize and expand the radio broadcasting network, 176 units of FM radio transmitters, 60 sets of antenna systems, 48 units of summing devices, 67 units of satellite equipment, and 44 units of RDS (Radio Data System) devices were delivered from abroad.

Also, 127 new radio frequency denominations have been allocated for 17 stations. Work on coordinating the allocated radio frequency denominations with neighboring countries continues.

The vast majority of planned stations have already installed broadcasting equipment and have begun test broadcasting. Currently, technical adjustment and repair work is ongoing at the stations.

In addition, intensive work is underway to create the necessary infrastructure for uninterrupted power supply and resolve other planned issues.

As a result of the implementation of the Order, it will be possible to receive national radio programs broadcast in the city of Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, and in the regions. Thus, the number of local radio programs received in the regions will increase proportionally to the number of foreign FM radio broadcasts from neighboring countries.

The briefing featured a video clip and a presentation on the topic.
