On the second day of the event Pre-COPHeld in Baku on October 10-11 under the chairmanship of COP29 and with the participation of leaders and stakeholders in the field of global climate, a briefing was organized by the Azerbaijan Operating Company of COP29.

As Day.Az reports with reference to the Azerbaijani Operating Company COP29, at the event, which included detailed information to Pre-COP participants about the progress of the multifaceted process of preparation for the COP29 conference, which will be held in November this year in Baku, about the work carried out within this framework, and on upcoming issues and priorities, a number of high-ranking guests attended.

Speaking at the briefing with a welcoming speech, the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer for Operations of the Azerbaijan Operating Company COP29 Narmin Dzharchalova emphasized that there are only a few days left before the most important climate conference in the world is held in Baku, and noted that the preparatory processes are at the final stage, the events in all directions are carried out according to the calendar. She added that preparations at the Baku Stadium, the venue for the event, are in their final stages. N. Dzharchalova informed in detail about the work done at the event site, spoke in detail about the activities of the “Blue” and “Green” zones, the infrastructure under construction and the processes being completed.

At the briefing, it was emphasized that special attention is paid to the priority of sustainability principles at all stages of events. Thus, the steps taken to create a fully inclusive environment were highlighted to ensure sustainable operations at the stadium, where sustainability, accessibility and inclusion are fully respected.

Ismail Isayev, a member of the Coordination Council of the Azerbaijan Operating Company COP29, who then spoke, spoke in detail about the hospitality processes and services organized in the city of Baku, as well as conferences and media services aimed at ensuring a positive experience for COP29 visitors. Ismail Isaev touched upon the accreditation and registration processes, the procedure for obtaining a special COP29 visa, initiatives that facilitate navigation and information around the city, as well as procedures and portals that facilitate the solution of a number of other organizational and technical issues used to ensure the comfort of numerous delegations and guests visiting the country.

Shahla Abbekirova, a member of the Coordination Council of the Azerbaijani Operating Company COP29, spoke about the upcoming Summit of World Leaders on Climate Action in the first days of the conference and brought to the attention of the briefing participants details about the organizational aspects of the main events and meetings that will take place during these days.

Director of the Department of Transport and Air Operations of the Azerbaijan Operating Company Orkhan Mahmudlu emphasized that one of the important aspects of the successful organization of the global COP29 conference is the use of an organized transport scheme. O. Mahmudlu touched upon the implementation of a number of consistent measures in this direction and presented a recently created interactive map of the city. He noted that in order to ensure the unhindered movement of numerous visitors during the conference, as well as maintaining the comfort of the capital’s residents, dozens of transport hubs will operate at strategic points in the city at this time. Mahmudlu also touched upon the planning and security measures taken in connection with the movement of delegations participating in COP29.
