Lachezar Valchev qualified for the triple jump final at the U20 World Athletics Championships in Lima, Peru.

The Bulgarian, who is the European under-18 triple jump champion from Jerusalem 2022 and bronze medalist at the European Under-20 Championships in Jerusalem 2023, took eighth place in the qualifiers with 15.63m, which was enough to secure a place in the 12- they finalists.

Three Bulgarians overcame the series of 100 meters running.

The European champion of 100 meters for girls under 18 Radina Velichkova gave the seventh time in the series with 11.57 seconds and qualified for the semi-finals.

Among the juniors, Nikola Karamanolov was fifth in the fifth heat with 10.52 seconds, and Hristo Iliev clocked 10.53 seconds and finished third in the third heat. The two finished 21st and 22nd respectively in the heats and qualified for the semi-finals on time.

The men’s and women’s 100m semi-finals are tonight.

Preslav Valev and Dimo ​​Andreev failed to qualify for the hammer throw final.
