On Saturday evening, a bullet was fired from the Arab Halisa neighborhood in Haifa into the house of a Hasid in the Ramat Viznitz housing • Meir Proosh: “Innocent residents of the third largest city in Israel cannot live there safely” • MK Mekelev in her urgent question to Minister Bar Lev: Why was it not investigated as a nationalist incident?

A projectile was fired on Shabbat evening from the Arab Halisa neighborhood into the home of a family of Sert Vizhnitz followers living in the Ramat Vizhnitz housing complex in Haifa.

At that time the whole family was at home, and only miraculously no one was hurt. The police were called to the scene and began investigating the case.

MK Uri Maklev addressed the Minister of Internal Security this evening demanding to find out what the police are doing and why the incident was not investigated as a nationalist incident.

“On Friday, a bullet was fired from the Halisa neighborhood in Haifa towards the Ramat Vizhinitz neighborhood. The ball entered the living room of a family home. Miraculously there were no casualties. “According to the testimony of the resident that the bullet was fired at him, there was no incident at the scene, but a minority member who was walking around alone suddenly fired at the house,” Makleb wrote in his application.

Makleb demands to know: “Has an investigation been opened? If so, what came up in the police investigation? Was the case investigated as a suspected nationalist incident? How did the police act in this case? How does the police act to prevent the recurrence of these cases in the future? And is there increased enforcement in such buffer zones where there are many cases of ‘stray bullets’ towards nearby neighborhoods?”

In the Sert Vizhnitz yard they expressed outrage at the shooting and claimed that this was not the first case. Now they demand that the police purge the weapons from the Arab neighborhood.

The chairman of the Torah Judaism faction, MK Meir Parosh, commented on the incident: “The situation in which innocent residents of the third largest city in Israel cannot live there safely is serious and must not continue.”

He added: “These things are doubly serious because this is not the first time that shots have been fired from the Halisa neighborhood at the houses of Ramat Vizhnitz – and the district commander must ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice in order to restore the sense of security to the city and the residents of the neighborhood.”
