Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has called for building a democratic, non-discrimination, non-sectarian, transparent and accountable state structure through radical reforms to meet the expectations of the students.

The organization believes that the youth will take the lead in keeping the demand for the building of a well-governed Bangladesh with the guarantee of voting rights, justice, human rights, freedom of expression and freedom of the media. In that way, the interim government should create an environment to achieve state reforms and national political settlement suitable for the realization of this dream.

On Monday (August 12) in the press release given on the occasion of International Youth Day, the executive director of TIB. Iftekharuzzaman said, ‘In an unprecedented coup led by young students, we have witnessed the downfall of an authoritarian government with unprecedented loss of life and sacrifice. This coup proves that the irrepressible, irrepressible youth cannot be kept in power by being ignored or oppressed. All parties, including all political parties, should learn from this movement – not suppress the power of the youth, but build a state system suitable for ensuring their human rights. With the auspicious beginning of the new day, through the radical change of the state structure in the light of the true spirit of the liberation war, we believe that the youth will show us the way to build a non-discrimination, non-sectarian, transparent, accountable and well-governed homeland with guaranteed voting rights, justice, human rights, freedom of expression and freedom of the media for the common people of this country. I believe

On the occasion of International Youth Day 2024, the youth generation stakeholders associated with TIB have made several recommendations considering the potential youth population as the key driver of national achievement. This includes- to be committed and proactive in building a new Bangladesh that is non-discriminatory, egalitarian and merit-based, democratic, accountable, well-governed, free from discrimination and corruption based on the aspirations of the youth. Building such a state structure, which is able to build a democratic ‘New Bangladesh’ based on human rights, public welfare, participation and inclusiveness, with freedom of speech and free media, following the lessons of the defeat of corrupt and corrupt politics cherished for a long time. The entire institutional structure should be overhauled by stopping partyization in state and constitutional institutions, so that these institutions never become tools for the government’s lack of power.

The TIB’s recommendations also include ensuring exemplary accountability for multi-dimensional and multi-stage unprecedented and brutal human rights violations. In this case, to ensure nationally and internationally acceptable investigation by forming a completely independent commission under the initiative of the United Nations to ensure exemplary punishment of the guilty. Also ensure institutional and legal framework to ensure fundamental rights like right to protest, freedom of assembly, freedom of media and freedom of speech. By using public office and public representation as a license to corrupt, forever block the way to acquire and spread illegal wealth. Determining effective strategies to permanently stop the fascist method of shutting down the internet and social media as one of the mediums of information, speech and expression. In order to prevent the violation of human rights, all institutions involved in the rule of law, including the related organizations, as well as the overall state structure, have taken initiatives on the basis of national consensus. The TIB has recommended sustainable measures to overcome all forms of fear so that the people of Apamar can express their views without fear.
