A call to work unitedly to restore order in public transport

Dhaka Transport Coordinating Authority (DTCA) Executive Director (Additional Secretary) Neelima Akhtar urged everyone to work unitedly to restore order in public transport.

He made this comment in the president’s speech at the discussion meeting titled ‘What to do to bring order to public transport’ at the meeting room of DTCA in Tejgaon, Dhaka on Tuesday (September 10) afternoon.

The Executive Director of DTCA said that DTCA is working tirelessly to make the transport system of Dhaka metropolis smooth, planned, integrated and modern.

Calling for the creation of civic awareness to bring order in public transport, he said, bringing order in public transport is not possible for anyone alone, everyone has responsibility here and everyone should come forward spontaneously to fulfill their responsibilities.

In the discussion meeting, the speakers highlighted various problems and challenges in bringing discipline in public transport and gave their opinion on what to do to face these challenges.

In the concluding speech of the meeting, DTCA Executive Director Neelima Akhtar said that as per the suggestions of all the stakeholders, decision-making should be done in consultation with the relevant authorities regarding the introduction of bus route permits, regular discussions with all the stakeholders, capacity building, introduction of e-tickets and slowly. Automation will be done gradually in the public transport system.

Representatives of various public and private institutions, representatives of various social organizations, representatives of university teachers and students, along with members of the bus owner’s association were present in the meeting.
