The Central Crime Branch police registered a case under 4 sections against Tamil Nadu BJP leader K. Annamalai for publishing a defamatory statement on the issue of plumber workers.

A video of an attack on workers in the northern states of Tamil Nadu was circulated in other states, including Bihar, through social media. This video also went viral in Tamil Nadu. Due to the panic caused by this, a large number of northern state workers left for their native states by trains.

In a statement issued by M.K.Stalin last Saturday, he warned that strict action will be taken against those who spread rumors about the workers of northern states. DGP Shailendrababu also warned that the rumor mongers will be arrested and jailed for up to 7 years.

In this situation, Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai in a statement released last Friday, had made various political accusations regarding this matter.

Subsequently, the Chennai Central Crime Branch has registered a case against Annamalai under 4 sections including spreading rumours, inciting violence and creating conflict between the two groups. According to the police officials, a case has been registered against Annamalai for publishing a report to spread false information.

Also, the Tamil Nadu police has requested the Twitter company to disable the Twitter account of the Bihar state BJP, which has spread false information.

‘Arrest if you can’

Arrest me if possible, said BJP leader K. Annamalai has challenged the Tamil Nadu government.

In this regard, he said in a post posted on Twitter on Sunday:

I had published a report on the DMK’s hate campaigns against Northern States. So I know that a case has been registered against me. I am also releasing the video of what has been said in the report. They think that they can suppress the voice of democracy by filing false cases. I give 24 hours time. K. Annamalai said in that post that if possible lay hands on me.
