Thoppumpadi: Thoppumpadi police have arrested three people who helped the guilty driver escape in the death of a passenger by a private bus in Thoppumpadi. Thrikakkara resident E.A. Ajas (36), Nawaz (24) from Vazhakala, Kakanad, NA from Mundampalam, Kakanad. Rafsal (30) was arrested. Police also seized the Innova car used to escape. Two red colored boards with Kerala State – 12 written on them were also recovered from the seized car. Police said that several documents related to the bank transaction were also recovered. The car belongs to Ajaz.

A case has been registered for the crime of helping Anas, a resident of Kakkanad Idachira, to hide and rescue him from the place after the incident. A case has also been registered for alleged malpractice by the board of Kerala State.

The accident happened last eight. The speeding bus hit a passerby, Lawrence Varghese. Shocking footage of the accident was circulated on social media. Three weeks after the accident, the police had not arrested the guilty driver. People’s representatives also protested against this. The court also rejected the driver’s anticipatory bail application last day.
