A total of 12 volunteers – students from the 3rd and 5th grades in the “Prof. Dr. Decho Dechev”, will join the National Program “Children’s Police Department”. During the two years of training, with the help of a sign language specialist, the children will undergo training in all modules included in the program – road safety, children’s personal protection and health, ethics and law. Psychologists from the Institute of Psychology of the Ministry of the Interior will also participate in the classes of the “Social Skills” module, planned for the second year of the course.
Especially for the opening of the training, which took place on the day of the school’s patron saint, an exciting meeting was organized for the children with the faithful four-legged employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs – the horses from the cavalry squadron and the police dogs. Genuine joy shone in the eyes of the little volunteers as they got into a patrol car and a police motorcycle. The International Police Association – Bulgaria Section pleased the children with badges, hats, reflective vests and sweatshirts with the logo of the preventive program, the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.
The beginning of the first Children’s Police Department in the special school for students with impaired hearing was given by the Deputy Director of the DG “National Police”, Senior Commissioner Emil Parmakov. He recalled that the program is aimed at prevention at an early age, and the idea behind its implementation is for children, while having fun, to learn different, interesting and useful knowledge to help them in difficult situations, to cope with challenges at home, at school, on the street, to know their rights and responsibilities, to learn to work in team, to show respect and tolerance towards others.
