a church bombed, 2 dead. A US-Corriere.it journalist arrested

They did it again. Another church was bombed in Myanmar, and at least two women, who had taken refuge there to escape the attack by the Burmese government army, were killed and several other civilians were injured. It happened on the night of May 23, in a village 7 km from Loikaw, the capital of the state of Kayah. By raising the level of a fight that matters at least 818 victims since the coup military: last February 1st.

Also the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Pekhon, 15 kilometers away, was hit by army artillery. The Jesuits in Myanmar raised high the protest for this further attack on the parishes, through the Fides agency: “We condemn these hateful crimes in the strongest possible way”. And they launched an appeal so that “The military cease attacks on churches and civilians“. And the demand that they be held accountable for what is happening.


Meanwhile, in Rangoon, an American journalist, was arrested at the airport. Danny window, who works for a local Burmese site, was boarding a direct flight to Malaysia. The reasons for the arrest are not clear.
