A new British coin featuring the face of King Charles has been launched. The King’s portrait will be issued on 50 pence coins. A special £5 coin featuring the monarch will also be released.
Below the image of the king are inscriptions in Latin.
The 50 pence coin features the King facing left. A portrait of his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth, is seen on the right. It has been a tradition since the restoration of the British monarchy in 1660.
Queen Elizabeth died on September 8. About 27 billion coins bearing his face are in circulation. They will continue to be in use.
