Reddit user “ReflectionThink2683” has one Graphical overview created so that users can keep track of model and bracelet sizes. Apple Watch 10 with a screen height of 42 mm can be combined with wristbands in sizes 38 to 41 mm. For bracelets with the size “42 mm”, it depends on the year of manufacture: If the bracelet is from September 2024 or later, the size 42 mm also fits. If the bracelet is from mid-2024 or earlier, 42 mm refers to the “large” version and is only suitable for the 49 mm Watch 10. Currently only one model is affected by the bracelet suspension; However, in the following years the necklace matrix may become more complicated.
A local problem, but rare
Apple created this illusion itself by connecting different band sizes to the screen height. However, finding the right bracelet should not be too challenging: In September 2022, Apple removed the Apple Watch Series 3 from its range. Since then, there is no new “big” Apple Watch with a screen height of 42 mm. If Apple had chosen something other than display size when marketing, the confusion could have been avoided. On the other hand, one should not overlook the fact that Apple guarantees the compatible fit of bracelets: For ten years, users have been able to freely combine all bracelets of the corresponding case size. First-generation watch bands fit (with comparable size) into guides on the Apple Watch 10 and all models in between. The only restriction is related to the materials used: Apple advises against combining aluminum housings with metal parts – the resulting local elements can lead to accelerated corrosion.
