A concert in honor of the 350th anniversary of Peter I will be held in St. Petersburg on Saturday

On Saturday, St. Petersburg will host a musical and poetic performance “Ode to Peter the Great”, dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the birth of the first Russian emperor. Masterpieces of Russian opera and symphonic classics will sound under the walls of the Mikhailovsky Castle, the press service of the St. Petersburg Committee for Culture reports.

The audience of the concert will be presented with fragments of world-famous compositions by Mussorgsky, Petrov, Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky, Donizetti and Gliere. They will also learn how this music was born and what links it with the fate of Peter I, with his historical image and the memory of him and his accomplishments.

The stars of the leading Russian opera scenes, laureates of international competitions Ekaterina Sergeeva and Alexei Tikhomirov will perform at the concert. Musical works will be performed by the Philharmonic Academic Symphony Orchestra. Artem Abashev will be at the conductor’s stand. The concert will be hosted by People’s Artist of Russia Nikolai Burov.
