For a long time, futuristic homes with electronic assistants and automated devices were reserved for science fiction films and the imagination of programmers, as they did not yet have the necessary technology to make the smart home a reality.

Today, the world is experiencing a true technological revolution in this regard, with products ranging from automated lighting to the refrigerator that can send messages to your smartphone if your door is left open. The benefits and practicality are countless, even though part of the population is still unaware of all the features that a smart device has.

What is the scene like in Brazil?

Currently, Brazil has 80% of homes with internet access, according to data from the 2022 ICT Households survey. With the majority of homes using broadband – around 38 million –, we have enormous potential to have more and more smart homes .

In another survey, Future Business Insights revealed that, by 2026, the forecast revenue from the acquisition of smart products, in our country, could reach US$ 2.41 billion, equivalent to a 91.6% growth rate compared to last year.

Saving electricity, for example, is super important in everyday life, not just financially, but for its environmental reasons. There are still many doubts – and even myths – that some products consume more energy than others. These and other issues can be easily resolved by connecting smart devices.

There are already solutions that show the energy performance of each device on the cell phone, allowing the user to set consumption goals and receive alerts if expenses are too high.

Another exceptional advantage of smart devices is the ability to disable specific functions in order to reduce the consumption of a given device. In addition to receiving notifications on your cell phone of possible extra fees and values from energy companies in the region. This way, it is possible to save much more effectively, with a detailed and real-time view of where the greatest consumption comes from.

Smart devices are also capable of learning from their users, as is the case with some washing machines. They identify the person’s habits, recommending favorite washing cycles – and that’s not all.

Models are available on the market that can even identify the level of dirt on clothes, using the ideal amount of water to clean the items. Maintenance is another simply impressive point, as the appliance can show when the drum washing and filter changes need to be done and even provide tips to keep them for longer.

With an increasingly busy routine, taking care of the environment can become a simpler task thanks to the technological solutions that smart homes provide.

Even though arriving home and having your clothes washed, room temperature adjusted and lights that turn off with a simple command are the culmination of a more comfortable life, knowing that all of this is accompanied by detailed environmental concern makes life much more significant.
