The total amount of the contract is 6,360,370 euros.
The purchase of the patrol vessel will allow to develop and strengthen the capabilities of the State Border Guard to monitor sea borders, improving detection, control and response capabilities on the external border of the European Union. This will promote faster and more effective action to prevent existing and potential security threats and provocations, the border guard states.
The vessels currently at the disposal of the State Border Guard were built more than 40 years ago. As the geopolitical situation in the region changes and security risks increase, it is necessary to improve the ability of the border guard to respond promptly to threats.
The purchased patrol vessel will help the State Border Guard to fulfill its tasks qualitatively and promptly, not only in the Baltic Sea region, but will also provide support in the activities coordinated by the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (“Frontex“) and other European Union member states of the Mediterranean region, “Frontex”, emphasizes the border guard.
The patrol boat meets technical standards and is also compatible with commercially available vertical takeoff unmanned aerial vehicles.
The cost of the project in the amount of 4,770,277 euros is financed by the European Union, while the co-financing of the state budget is 1,590,093 euros.
The project is planned to be implemented until April 30, 2025.
