by time news

The decision was issued by a three-judge panel of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. The court rejected attempts by Donald Trump’s lawyers to block the presentation of documents in the case of a possible violation of procedures by holding classified data at the Mar-a-Lago residence, according to The Hill and The Associated Press.

Judicial sources cited by ABC News state that one of Donald Trump’s lawyers will have to present documents relevant to the investigation in court.

Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) collected documents from Donald Trump’s residence in Mar-a-Lago (Florida) in August 2022, and the case is being investigated by a special prosecutor, Jack Smith. Authorities say they were classified documents, but Trump says the documents were declassified by him while he was president.

In a separate case, Donald Trump is at risk of being indicted by a court in Manhattan (New York) in a case related to the alleged provision of false information about payments made in the 2016 election campaign. Donald Trump said that he could be placed in preventive arrest in this investigation. Trump asked supporters to organize protests. Manhattan U.S. Attorney Alvin Bragg recently began presenting evidence in an investigation into a $130,000 payment made by Michael Cohen, Trump’s former personal attorney, to adult film actress Stephanie Clifford (who goes by the stage name stage Stormy Daniels), in the election campaign of 2016. The actress claimed that she had a relationship with Donald Trump ten years ago, but Trump denied this.

Donald Trump, who was president of the USA in the period 2017-2021, entered the electoral race for the designation of the candidate of the Republican Party in the presidential election of 2024.
