/ Police in the Tinley Park area on the outskirts of Chicago announced that a man had killed his wife and three daughters by shooting them, at dawn on Monday.

The police believe that the motive for the crime was a family quarrel, and they arrested the perpetrator pending investigation.

It is believed that the man and the victims are of Palestinian origin, according to the American Al-Hurra website.

ABC News reported that the shooting occurred inside a house in the Tinley Park suburb of south Chicago.

When police arrived at the scene, officers found four women dead inside the home, all with gunshot wounds, and the man in the home was found unharmed.

Police said the man is in custody, and investigators told ABC7 that the suspected shooter is the husband and father of the victims.

The Cook County coroner identified the victims as: Majda Qassem (53 years old), Halima Qassem (25), Zahia Qassem (25), and Hanan Qassem (24).

Police remained at the scene to investigate Sunday afternoon, and the weapon used in the crime was confiscated.

The news was sad for neighbors and those who knew the family. A neighbor, Charlotte Vaitkus, said: “My daughter knows them. She went to school with the eldest son, and she hired the twin sisters. She always talked about how smart they all were, and that they had ambitious goals in life.”

The police did not identify the suspect, and confirmed that they would announce more details about this crime on Monday.

CBS quoted Vaitkos as saying that the family living in the house consists of a husband and wife, three daughters and two sons.

She added that her daughter was “in shock,” and that the twin girls were “a pharmacist and a doctor,” stressing that she “did not know that there were any problems at all at home.”

It is unclear what led to the shooting, according to CBS.
