After the liquidation of two militants in the Buinaksky district of Dagestan, employees of the republican department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) opened a criminal case on the fact of encroachment on the life of law enforcement officers. The case was initiated under three articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: 317 (encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer); item “a” part 3 of Art. 222 (illegal arms trafficking committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy) and clause “a” of Part 3 of Art. 222.1 (illegal traffic in explosive devices committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy).

According to the investigation, on September 10, when law enforcement officers were conducting operational-search measures in the forest area of ​​the Buinaksky region, two armed persons were found. “In response to legal demands to lay down their arms and surrender to the authorities, they opened fire with automatic weapons at the employees,” the press service said.

During the inspection of the scene, various automatic firearms, a large amount of ammunition and a ready-to-use improvised explosive device were found and seized, the ICR confirmed the information previously published by the information center of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee.

The counter-terrorist operation (CTO) regime, introduced early in the morning on Friday, September 10, in some areas of the Buinaksk region, has not been lifted. The security forces continue their operational search activities.

The last time the CTO regime was announced in Dagestan was on April 29 of this year in certain areas of the Kazbekovsky and Novolaksky districts.
