According to “Haykakan Jamanak”, the participants in the kidnapping are members of the public organization “Where are the Sons” and they forced Pashinyan to get into their car. However, Pashinyan managed to get out of the parked car, but at that time he collided with the car of that organization that was chasing them. According to the newspaper, Pashinyan’s leg was injured, and members of the “Sons’ Call” NGO fled the scene.

While the film crew of “Azatutyun” radio station was in front of the office of “Where are the sons” organization, the police started to bring the parents inside. Zoranush Saakyan, the mother of the deceased soldier Jora Saakyan, was also in the office of the organization and she said that her husband was among those brought. Zoranush Saakyan confirmed that on that day (May 17) they met with Ashot Pashinyan after the court hearing on the case of one of the parents of the soldiers who died:
“Today there was a court, he came there. They slander that the parents kidnapped him, but we didn’t. It was Gayane Martirosyan’s trial, I told Gayane: come, he came himself, we didn’t touch him. He himself sat down silently … and got out of the car and left.”
“Haykakan Jamanak” claimed that Garik Galeyan, the father of the deceased soldier Mkhitar Galeyan, was involved in the attempted kidnapping. During the detention, the correspondent of “Azatutyun” radio was able to ask him several questions. He denied that someone tried to kidnap the prime minister’s son.
“He walked past the court and then sat down with one of the parents. One of the mothers said: we are going to Yerablur (a military cemetery in Yerevan – ed.), look these boys in the eye and tell their parents what they are doing. He got into the car, they left, somewhere in the Third area he opened the car door and got out. The car must have been in motion. I was in one of the five cars that followed, and when he got out and ran, I slowed down to avoid hitting him.” – Galeyan said.
