Cuban musician Yian López Semanat was detained by Mexican authorities after a complaint was filed for his assault on singer Heidy Infante during a concert in March.

The Mexico City Attorney General’s Office revealed on his Twitter account that they obtained “the link to the process with preventive detention against Yian ‘N’, for his probable participation in the commission of the crime of aggravated sexual abuse, to the detriment of a singer.”

López is accused of having committed sexual abuse against the granddaughter of the renowned actor and singer Pedro Infante, for which he was arrested after an immigration alert was issued to prevent him from leaving Mexico.

The musician from Santiago must answer before the courts of that country for the charges presented, although the note from the Mexican Prosecutor’s Office clarifies that “he is presumed innocent and will be treated as such at all stages of the procedure, until his responsibility is clarified by means of a sentence issued by the court.”

The events of his accusation took place during a presentation with the Nueva Sonora ensemble at the Mercado Escuadrón 201, in the Iztapalapa mayor’s office, Mexico City, last March.

In a video released by the artist on her Facebook profile, you can see the moment in which the Cuban touches the singer’s neck while she is in her show on stage. Infante reacts by slapping Yian `N´ on the lower back and he extends his hand to touch the woman’s genitals. At that point she reacts and starts a violent altercation.

After the event, the Mexican artist wrote on her social networks: “I want to thank all the people, friends, fans and acquaintances who know that I was assaulted in a low manner by this subject named Yian López Semanat. My question is why? How long are we women going to allow this type of violence?

In addition, he regretted that the police, who were present at the time of the events, decided to release the Cuban musician and not transfer him to the station while the event was clarified and the complaint was filed.
