Only a day before it was inaugurated by President Herzog and the Israeli ministers at the climate conference in Sharm el-Sheikh: the Israeli pavilion was vandalized by unknown persons, and the police are investigating the case. However, today President Yitzhak Herzog will meet with Egyptian President Al-Sisi. The president will lead the Israeli delegation to the climate conference that opened this week in Sharm el-Sheikh

A day before President Herzog’s arrival at the climate conference in Egypt: photos show that the Israeli pavilion at the Israeli conference in Sharm el-Sheikh was vandalized, by engraving the word ‘Israel’ on the central sign in the booth. The organizers of the conference invited the police, who are investigating the case.

As part of his participation in the climate conference that opened this week in Egypt, in which leaders from various countries of the world are taking part, the country’s president Yitzhak Herzog will hold policy meetings with people on the conference island and will open the Israeli pavilion that was established for the first time at the conference.

Upon his landing today and his arrival in Sharm el-Sheikh, Herzog will be welcomed by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. After that, the President will meet with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Ziad. After this meeting, he will hold a meeting with the Prime Minister of Norway, Younes Ger Steure. During the president’s busy day, meetings will be held between him and other leaders, including incoming British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, King Abdullah II of Jordan, President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro and President of Microsoft Worldwide, Brad Smith.

Later, the President will participate in the opening event of the World Climate Conference and will open the Israeli pavilion that was established for the first time at the conference with the participation of the members of the Israeli delegation and the ministers accompanying the delegation: the Minister of Environmental Protection Tamar Zandberg, the Minister of Education Yifat Shasha Biton, the Minister of Innovation Orit Farkash HaCohen and the Minister of Regional Cooperation Iswai Frij .

Herzog’s trip to the climate conference comes against the backdrop of the cancellation of Prime Minister Lapid’s participation in the conference, following the election results. For three decades now, the climate conference has been used as an excuse for meetings between world leaders, where sometimes dramatic decisions are made. The climate conference itself is intended to provide an answer to global warming, through joint discussions of the leaders of the countries and reports of various bodies concerned.
