Video footage of the first hours of the operation was published on the Telegram channel of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and was also shared by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on social networks.
“Demining, breaching the border, destroying the enemy’s defenses, air and artillery operations, prisoners of war,” the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine wrote in the caption of the video.
It adds that this day will go down in the history of the war between Russia and Ukraine.
“Hours of the first offensive operation of the Defense Forces in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation in 2024. August 6 A day that will go down in the history of the war between Russia and Ukraine. Careful preparation, planning, surprise, moral and informational silence were decisive in the initial phase of the operation,” the attachment states.
A statement from the said forces said that the further success of the operation will depend on the endurance and resilience of the soldiers fighting there.
“Now everything depends on the resilience of Ukrainian soldiers of all types of armed forces participating in the operation.
Together to victory! Always the first! Glory to the airborne troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” it reads.
