A deal worth Rs.37.75 crore for bio-mining from garbage!| Dinamalar

Madurai: The Municipal Corporation has sought a contract for Rs 37.75 crore to bio-mining the old garbage accumulated in the composting center from Madurai Vellakal Sewage Treatment Plant waste.

750 to 850 tons of garbage is removed daily in 100 wards of the corporation and floodstone is brought. Biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste is separated and composted. Garbage composting center is functioning in many wards. Some of them are useless as exhibits.

Recently new aluminum dustbins were purchased by the Corporation. In the morning and at night, the garbage bin is removed. In this case, a contract has been requested to separate the flood rock waste and convert it into revenue generating products.

City Engineer Lakshmanan said: There is 4 lakh 82 thousand cubic meters of old garbage in the landfill at Vellakal. They have lost their composting properties. So we are planning to grade it by boring it using ‘Biomining’ method. Metals, wires and ore materials including iron, copper, gold pieces mixed in the garbage will be separated.

In which flammable materials are sent to the cement manufacturing plant. Let’s recycle good reusable items. Similarly, many projects related to garbage and sewage will be implemented successively. He said that non-functioning fertilizer plants will also be reactivated.
