A decade of success in the Guatemalan fashion industry deserves a bold celebration, and Guatemala Fashion Week (GTFW) does not disappoint. In its 10th anniversary, GTFW partners with renowned technology brand, HONOR, to demonstrate that fashion and technology are more than just isolated industries; They are two sides of the same coin, intertwined in personal expression, creativity and innovation.

Perspective Writing

Since its arrival in Guatemala just two years ago, HONOR has revolutionized the technology scene with its bold approach: cutting-edge design, cutting-edge technology, vibrant colors and premium features in its products. Therefore, what better platform than the GTFW catwalk to showcase your innovations and challenge convention.

Fashion Week, A Decade of Innovation in Guatemala

Under the motto #GuateEstaDeFashion, GTFW has demonstrated since 2014 that it is much more than a simple fashion show. It has been a vital meeting point for the fashion community in Guatemala, introducing concepts such as Startups Fashion, Fashion Talks, New Face, Handmade Fashion and Academy, which have promoted various areas of fashion in the country. In addition, GTFW has forged renowned strategic alliances, such as the collaboration with Fashion Designers of Latin America in New York, contributing to the success of the platform and the promotion of the national industry.

A highlight for GTFW has been the participation of exceptional Guatemalan designers since its inception, such as Eduardo Figueroa, Guillermo Jop, Mauricio Samayoa and Liza Carrillo. Over the years, designers have joined forces who have consolidated impressive careers, both nationally and internationally, such as Mariandrée Gaitán, Karla Garzaro, Thelma Espina or Lia Cohen, among others.

Daniel Panedas, director of Siete Zero, the company that created Guatemala Fashion Week, said: «We were born as an event, but today we have evolved to be defenders of Guatemalan fashion from a country industry perspective. Our platform is determined to continue innovating and being a meeting point for the industry, listening to the needs of our designers and providing support.

Celebrating the 10th Anniversary with a Vision of the Future

The month of November, traditionally emblematic for GTFW, is preparing to once again be the epicenter of Guatemalan fashion. From the 7th to the 10th, the great national and international designers will parade in two stages: Antigua Guatemala and Guatemala City.

The event begins on Tuesday, November 7 with the presentation of one of the industry’s most prominent designers, Naeem Khan, at the Pensativo House Hotel. Khan, recognized for dressing iconic figures such as Michelle Obama, Beyoncé and Anne Hathaway, is an international symbol of elegance and fashion. His participation in Guatemala confirms the consolidation of the prestige that GTFW has achieved over the years.

On Wednesday, November 8, Guatemala City becomes the epicenter of fashion. It begins with the Mayū & Chi Luisa Media Launch (by invitation only), where designers Chi Luisa and Emma Gutiérrez present their collaborative accessories collection. On the catwalks this day, Guatemalan designers such as Liza Carrillo and her brand Vessel Collection, Eduardo Figueroa presented by Paleta, Handmade Fashion collections presented by Agexport, Jaspe by Vitto and others stand out.

Furthermore, on this second day, Guatemala Fashion Week becomes the setting for the launch of the new HONOR N series smartphones, inspired by haute couture and the artisanal value of luxury jewelry. As part of its commitment to local talent, HONOR is collaborating with a leading designer in 2022: Sandy Rodríguez and her brand Treinta & Cinco, with whom they share a common vision of creativity and excellence. The launch includes an HONOR 90 Share your vibe launch party within the framework of Guatemala Fashion Week.

Basilikí Kutsoyeoryiu, marketing manager of HONOR Guatemala, stated: «Under the motto ‘Creating with Style’, at HONOR we believe that fashion and technology can coexist harmoniously. “This collaboration with Guatemala Fashion Week represents an opportunity to present our vision of stylish and advanced mobile devices that complement the modern lifestyle.”

On Thursday, November 9, activities begin with the presentation of the collaboration between artisans from the Manos de Guatemala training program and designers and brands such as Jaspe by Vitto, Eduardo Figueroa, Treinta&Cinco and Mariandrée Gaitán. In addition, the Handmade Moda showroom is inaugurated at the Agexport facilities, open to the public on Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10th.

The catwalks continue in Guatemala City with the collections of Rogelio Escobar, Sharkar, Victoria Rivera and Lia Cohen, who show their talent, in addition to a catwalk by Simán.

On Friday, November 10, activities begin with a breakfast to present new products from the Wakami brand and a lunch with Sorella’s recent collection of bags and accessories, both events by invitation. On the catwalks, proposals from pioneering brands such as GUiSHEM x Guillermo Jop are presented, followed by the emerging talent of Arzayús, by designer Juan David Arzayús. Then, the Academy catwalks presented by Istituto Marangoni are presented, created by young students from fashion academies and universities: Llatzer, the Universidad del Istmo and the Universidad Popular. The Thian brand will join the event, as well as the performance of the Sorella brand by sisters Nina and Camila Andrade.
