A delegation of the Government Office, headed by the head of the department of regional development and control, Berik Dzhakenov, visited the Karaganda region. The guests visited several enterprises in the region, including the Abay garment factory, as well as factories producing QazTehna buses and Silk Road electronics household appliances, reports Akimat of the Karaganda region.

There are 1,200 enterprises in the Karaganda region, most of which are small and medium-sized businesses. In the national ranking for ease of doing business, the region ranks second in the country. There are prospects for industrial development and the creation of new import-substituting industries.

A delegation from the Government Office visited the Saran industrial zone, where the production processes of factories producing buses and household appliances were shown.

The new Silk Road electronics plant has already produced about 32 thousand washing machines. The plant also produces gas stoves, televisions, mini-ovens, hoods, vacuum cleaners, and boilers. Raw materials are purchased from Russia, Uzbekistan, China and Korea. It is planned to purchase foam granules in Aktau. There are prospects to start working with Samsung and enter the German market.

The design capacity of the QazTehna bus and special equipment plant is 1,200 buses per year. 700 jobs created. Market share in 2023 in Kazakhstan – 67%. Now metal is purchased from large companies. Representatives of the Government Office proposed creating a competitive environment by starting to work with smaller enterprises.

In 2023, the Abai garment factory sold workwear worth 400 million tenge on the domestic market of Kazakhstan. For workwear, fabric from the domestic manufacturer Azala is used. According to the director of the factory, Nurkhan Zhumabekov, one of the problems is the lack of seamstresses. Now there are 100 people working, he is ready to employ 700. The issue of training students of the 19th college has been resolved: the factory masters will train them in the production itself.

Enterprise managers proposed measures that could increase the competitiveness of domestic products in the market. In turn, members of the delegation noted the need to increase Kazakh content.

– Our main task is to create favorable conditions for increasing the production of local products. It is necessary to provide all measures of state support to small and medium-sized businesses to stimulate the creation of new import-substituting industries, emphasized Berik Dzhakenov.
