Watan Al-Youm: Minister of Agriculture Khaled Al-Hanifat instructed, on Tuesday, to compensate farmers affected by the recent rains.
Al-Hanifat’s speech came during his inspection of Al-Baqiawiya excavation in the northeastern Badia in Mafraq, and a site for an affected beekeeper.
And he confirmed, during his meeting with affected people and farmers, that all the excavations that were completed last year and the beginning of this year were filled; These rains support the agricultural sector, extend the grazing season, and increase the water injection of groundwater.
The efficiency of the excavations that were maintained during the past and current season, which were mostly filled, was also monitored.
Al-Hanifat pointed out that the ministry’s permanent responsibility is to help farmers and stand with them. The directorates of agriculture are currently working on limiting the damages from the effects of the recent rains, and the damages will be verified, and then the procedures in this regard will be taken.
Al-Hanifat was briefed on the reality of some crops and cultivations and the impact of rain on them, as he listened to the technical opinion given by the Ministry’s cadres in the field.
He stressed the necessity of sustaining communication from extension units, providing services, and communicating with farmers.
