One of two doctors among five accused in the ketamine overdose death of “Friends” actor Matthew Perry has been banned from practicing by a federal judge, Reuters and the Associated Press reported.

Dr. Mark Chavez appeared in Los Angeles County District Court on charges of conspiracy to illegally distribute ketamine and was released on $50,000 bail.

He previously signed a plea deal with federal prosecutors to plead guilty. His lawyer said the settlement will be filed in court in the coming weeks.

“My client accepts responsibility. He is doing everything in his power to cooperate, to help in this situation and he is extremely remorseful,” the doctor’s lawyer said.

Matthew Perry was found dead on October 28 last year, BTA recalls. The medical examiner determined that the main cause of his death was an overdose of ketamine. The actor used the drug through his regular doctor as part of a legal but unregistered treatment for depression.
